Morris Commercial Truck Photos

The Morris Commercial was a popular medium-weight truck made by the famous English company during the Thirties. During World War II, a great many Morris Commercials were supplied to the British Army. This particular 1-ton model was used by an English brewery.

In the first decade of commercial vehicle manufacture Morris was primarily concerned with light vans which it built at Cowley, England. In 1923 the company started to manufacture the One Ton Morris and by the end of that decade was making trucks and buses. Buses were a shortlived product of the Morris company and after 1932 the firm concentrated on goods vehicles.

The Morris Commercial was a common sight in the camouflage paint of the British Army during World War II although Morris also manufactured tanks. Morris, as part of the Nuffield Organization, and Austin merged in 1952 to form the British Motor Corporation and both the Austin and Morris ranges were progressively standardized. The FG Series of trucks was introduced in 1959 and later there were FJ models.
